Barclays Capital makes senior hire in investment banking

Barclays Capital has appointed David Lau, as managing director, investment banking China within the Investment Banking Division.


This appointment follows last month's hiring of Steven Sun and January's hiring of FIG bankers in Japan.


Lau will act as the main coverage banker for corporates in China, focusing on telecom, media and technology as well as general industrials. He will work alongside David Zhang and Baomin Li, Managing Directors, Investment Banking China, as the senior client coverage team heads responsible for originating business opportunities.


He will be based in Hong Kong and will report to Chris Hui, Head of Investment Banking China/Hong Kong.


Commenting, Hui said: "Our client-focused strategy and product delivery platform have enabled Barclays Capital to build a strong franchise in the region over the past several years, and the addition of David's extensive experience should accelerate the growth of our business in China."
