Credit Suisse has hired Simon Yuan as managing director and co-head of financial institutions Greater China coverage team in its investment banking department.

Yuan's responsibilities include developing relationships, initiating and executing transactions for the Bank's clients. He will provide strategic support to deliver more integrated financial products to clients. He will also be working closely with Janice Hu, co-head of financial institutions greater China coverage team.

Based in Hong Kong, he will report to Rob Jesudason, head of financial institutions coverage in Asia Pacific, and Liping Zhang, head of greater China investment banking department.

Zhang said: "Simon brings a wealth of experience and ideas to Credit Suisse, having been heavily involved with many high profile restructurings, capital raisings and cross-border mergers and acquisitions in the Chinese financial sector".

Yuan joins Credit Suisse from Merrill Lynch where he had been working since 2004.
