HSBC strengthens asset management team

HSBC Global Asset Management has appointed Julie Koo as head of institutional sales, Asia-Pacific, with effect from 18 February 2010.


Based in Hong Kong, Koo will lead the local and regional institutional sales teams. She will report to Patrice Conxicoeur, director and head of institutional business, Asia-Pacific of HSBC Global Asset Management.


Commenting on the appointment, Rudolf Apenbrink, chief executive of HSBC Global Asset Management, Asia-Pacific, said: "This new position is critical in allowing us to develop further our relationships with institutions in Asia, where we see a growing need for institutional asset management expertise. Over the years, we have successfully built our credentials, particularly in the insurance, sovereign wealth and pension fund space as a true solutions provider, supported by our multiple investment specialists."


Koo joins from Fidelity where was employed for the last 15 years, most recently as executive director, head of institutional business development, Asia ex Japan.
